The 12th meeting on Mathematical Analysis and its Applications

Adrar, 09-12 november 2023

Under the high patronage of Badari Kamel, Higher Education and Scientific Research’s Minister

AIMS

The 12th edition of the “Mathematical Analysis and its Applications Meeting” (RAMA12 : Rencontre d’Analyse Mathématique et ses Applications ) will take place from November 9th to 12th , 2023, at the Ahmed Draïa University of Adrar. This event is organized mainly by the mathematics laboratory of the university of Adrar. The 12th edition of the “Mathematical Analysis and its Applications Meeting” (RAMA12 : 12 e Rencontre d’Analyse Mathématique et ses Applications) aims to promote research in mathematics and stimulate international scientific cooperation by providing a space for exchange of mathematical knowledge. This knowledge forms the foundation of technological development, both in the short and long terms, and is essential for progress in all fields. This edition will be marked by the participation of mathematicians from prestigious centers and laboratories, such as the Jacques-Louis Lions Laboratory (Pierre and Marie Curie University - Paris). Other participants from the Laboratory of Mathematics and their Applications in Pau, Tshwane University of Technology of Pretoria (South Africa), the chair 'Dynamics, Control and Numerics' at the University of Nürnberg (Germany), … will be present. Researchers from different mathematics laboratories of Algerian universities will actively participate for the success of this meeting. Additionally, for the first time in this category of scientific events, there will be a session on the use of mathematics in artificial intelligence, which is the main lever of the fourth industrial revolution. Furthermore, this will be the first time that RAMA will be held in the Great South of Algeria. The main aims of this meeting is firstly to provide an opportunity to exchange research concerns; secondly to serve as a platform for young researchers to present their work.

Adrar

Located at more than 1 400 km to the south west of Algiers by taking the trans-Saharan route, Adrar is the administrative capital of Adrar Province, the second largest province in Algeria. The commune is sited around an oasis in the Touat region of the Sahara Desert.

The area of Adrar (which includes the provinces of Adrar, Timimoun and Bordj Badji Mokhtar) is at a crossroads between Algeria and the sub-Saharian Africa, and in particular Mauritania and Mali, as well as between the regions of central , eastern and western Sahara. This crossroads is characterized by its natural and archaeological sites (A vast area of sand dunes, the Erg Chech, lies to the west, while a large rocky plateau, the Tademaït, lies to the east and the petrified wood forests of the Tidikelt).

Adrar is mainly an agricultural town, characterized by its traditional irrigation system, the Foggara, its Ksours and Kas- bates, its thousand-year-old manuscripts, its folklore, its craftsmanship and so on. Its heritage is rich and diversified on the natural, cultural and religious levels. This has allowed the region to retain its ecosystem in a judicious way, thus preserving the Saharan fau- na and flora : fennec, gazelle, desert monitor lizard ,black kite, palm groves,... Thus, and because of its position at crossroads, the area has managed to attract, for more than a thousand years, eminent cultivated people, scholars and explorers that came from different regions of the Maghreb, Andalusia and even from the far middle eastern region. They contributed to its intellectual and scientific influence. Its status as a modern university city since 1986 has never stopped growing to the point that it has become a university centre of African dimension which is a rehabilitation of the region in scientific, cultural and socio-economic terms.

Taking into account its geographical position and its cosmopolitan character, Adrar and its university, can aspire to become a great centre of scientific and technological influence thanks to the ambitions of its people.
